New overseas care worker sponsorships from outside the UK are restricted, with priority given to in-country switchers and applicants already in displaced sponsor employment. - Can I still apply for a care worker visa from overseas?
- The rules tightened significantly in 2025 — most new sponsorships now require the applicant to already be in the UK on another visa, or to be switching from a different sponsor that has lost its licence. Check gov.uk for the latest position before applying.
- What is the minimum salary?
- Care workers have a discounted threshold under the immigration salary list, but the going-rate calculation is strict and many part-time or zero-hours offers do not qualify. Full-time hourly minimums apply.
